Dry Prawn Curry with Grated Coconut

Craving for something spicy? here it is!!!

Assalamu'alaikum,  everyone!

Lately, I have been indulged myself playing around with flour and pay less attention on something spicy till one day I saw a friend of mine posted I picture of food and I realized I have less appetite these days so I asked her "how to increase my appetite?" she told me something about make up some recipe. I scrolled my photo files and I saw this picture, yes, I cooked this while ago and I still remember how yummy it is and could make you refill your plate with more rice. it's called dry curry because it does taste like curry but less gravy. It similar to Indian dish called "Mangalorean Prawn Sukke" but I don't use tamarind, instead I use coconut milk.



Just a simple note: as prawn doesn't require to be cooked for so long, hence it is important that you make sure the ingredient or masala is ready before you add the prawns in. Make sure it doesn't taste raw or powdery.
Ok, so lets jump into the recipe:

Ingredients:
1. About 20 medium prawns, cleaned and deveined
2. 1 tsp turmeric powder
3. vegetable oil
4. 1 large onion, chopped
5. 6 cloves garlic, pounded 
6. Thumb size of ginger, grated
7. 1 tbsp chili powder (add more if you are spicy lover)
8. 1/4 cup coconut milk 
9. 1 tbsp coriander powder
10. 1 tsp cumin powder
11. 3 tbsp grated coconut
12. salt and sugar to taste

For Garnish
1 tsp black mustard seed
1 stalk curry leaf

Method:
- Heat oil in work, add onion and fry till browned, add garlic, ginger stir for couple of minutes then add coriander, cumin, turmeric and chili powder, turn low the heat and cook till oil separated, stir occasionally
- Add coconut milk a little at a time, add salt and sugar
- add in grated coconut keep stirring for a minute and add prawn, cook till it turned pink.
- in a separate wok, heat oil and fry mustard seed and curry leaf, fry until the mustard seed stop spluttering
- serve curry on serving bowl and garnish with fried mustard seed and curry leaf.
