Homemade White Bread

Hallo bread lovers!

Years ago I kept on wondering every time I watch advertisement on television that shows how they turn flour into bread. I was born in a small village in Indonesia and as many of you already know that bread is not our staple but if you live in a big city you might find it quite common for people to have bread as their breakfast while most villagers they have bread as a snack😊.

Currently I'm working for a family which bread is an essential daily food, we could easily get bread here but having a freshly-baked homemade bread in your kitchen is kind of something special, besides it's healthier as we know exactly what ingredients we use. Don't worry if you don't have dough-mixer machine, trust me I knead it by my hand all the time not only for this easy recipe but for other recipes that I'm going to share with you all soon. Pretty good for arms workout and you will know exactly when the dough has reached its right elasticity.

One of the most important thing we have to bear in mind is making sure that the yeast that you're going to use it's still active, if its happen that you have an opened one in your fridge it would be better if you put the amount of yeast that you need for the bread in warm water that you have prepared and let it sits for a minute if some bubbles floating on the surface of the water that means you are good to go with the next step of your bread making process.

patience might be the essential element here, even though we're using instant yeast we still need to let the dough for at least 45 minute on each proving time or until your dough has doubled in size. This will ensure the softness of the bread.

So here is the recipe of my Super Soft White Bread:

Makes 2 loaves of white bread (12*22cm tin loaf)

Ingredients:
  •    5 cups flour (2 cups bread flour + 3 cups plain flour) will do with plain flour.
  •    2 tsp instant yeast
  •    1 1/2 cups warm water
  •    1/8 cup granulated sugar
  •    ½ tbsp salt
  •     3 tbsp butter at room temperature, extra for brushing

 Method:
  •    Put flour, salt, sugar, yeast, butter in a big bowl. Pour water little by little till it reach a good texture (might be a little bit sticky)
  •    Put dough in a clean surface and knead the dough till it become elastic
  •    Put dough into greased bowl and let it rest for about 45 minutes to 1 hour or until its doubled
  •   Knock the dough down on clean surface, divide into 2 same portion, flatten the dough  and pull the side one at a time to the middle of dough and roll it to form a loaf shape, put in in a tin loaf and do the same to the other dough. Let it rest for another 45 minutes
  •    Pre heat oven at 170 degrees. Brush the dough with butter and bake for about 20-30 minutes. The surface should golden brown.

An easy recipe isn't it ? and I guarantee kids will love it too, happy cooking!!!
